Get ready … Fast Pitch ‘27 is set for Tuesday, April 13, 2027!
We are beyond excited to welcome our newest Fast Pitch cohort! Nominated directly by our Community Partners, this year’s cohort features 10 transformational, community-based nonprofit leaders who work with annual operating budgets under $3M, possess deep lived experience facing their neighborhoods' systemic challenges, and are driving work that tackles poverty head-on across Chicago’s South and West Sides.
Through Fast Pitch, these nonprofit leaders (our "Pitchers") spend two months refining their strategic messaging with coaching from SVP Partners, friends of SVP, and their peers. To honor the significant time investment required for Fast Pitch, SVP Chicago awards each Pitcher a $5,000 unrestricted stipend upon completion of the program. The experience culminates in a live showcase where leaders present their bold vision and connect directly with hundreds of business, civic, and philanthropic supporters to raise real-time, unrestricted donations.
Beyond the stage, Fast Pitch serves as the gateway to multi-year support. Pitchers join our network of nearly 60 South and West Side Community Partners, gaining ongoing access to on-demand pro bono executive training—such as financial modeling, strategic planning, and practical AI tools—along with peer networking through our strategy series and quarterly ED Connections.
We’re riding high on the energy of last year’s record-breaking event—where over 370 in-person and virtual supporters helped us smash our goal, delivering $150,000 in total support directly to community-based nonprofit organizations serving Chicago's South & West Sides. So join us in giving a warm welcome to our incoming leaders, and mark your calendars for April 13, 2027 at Malcolm X College for another powerful year of storytelling, community connection, and systemic change!
Ticket sales launch in February 2027.

Fast Pitch FAQ
-
Fast Pitch is a high-energy, rapid-fire showcase and non-competitive fundraiser that shines a spotlight on community-based nonprofit leaders making an outsized impact in South and West Side neighborhoods. It creates vital visibility, builds networks, and opens doors to new funders, board members, partners, and champions for leaders who are closest to community needs, yet too often overlooked by traditional philanthropy.
At the heart of Fast Pitch are the "Pitchers"—passionate nonprofit leaders deeply connected to the causes they champion. Leading up to the event, each Pitcher participates in an intensive, multi-week communication training and mentoring program. Paired with experienced Coaches (SVP Partners and friends), they hone their storytelling, message clarity, and presentation skills to amplify their reach.
What to Expect:
Inspiring Presentations: Pitchers take the stage to deliver compelling, 3-minute pitches that share their organization's vision, impact and needs.
Community Connection: This is where SVP Chicago introduces 10 organizations making an outsized impact to 350+ in-person and virtual guests. The hybrid event brings local leaders together with fresh partners, board prospects, and allies for meaningful networking, light refreshments, and real-time support.
Immediate Support: Audiences discover incredible community-based leadership and have the opportunity to make immediate, real-time donations to support the participating organizations.
Fast Pitch is more than just a presentation—it's a celebration of local leadership, a powerful storytelling platform and a "friend-raiser" designed to build lasting support for impactful community work.
-
We know from past participants that the program is about so much more than the pitch:
The refined messaging can transform how you talk about your organization across communications platforms.
You can make connections with other nonprofit leaders that last beyond the two-month program.
The showcase leads to more donations, potential volunteers and board members, and broader exposure for you and your organization.
Fast Pitch alumni join our growing network of Community Partners—gaining ongoing pro bono, organization-building support—with the event serving as a high-impact launchpad to connect with philanthropists, donors, corporate sponsors, and champions dedicated to uplifting South and West Side nonprofits.
It is important to us that all organizations who are accepted into the program are compensated for their time. As such, SVP Chicago gives each nonprofit leader who completes the program a small, unrestricted grant.

Our eight amazing nonprofit leaders presented the pitches they have practiced over the last two months to an audience of over 300 donors, sponsors, community leaders, friends, and family. The quality of their pitches and the passion of these presenters was absolutely awe inspiring.
While all of the nonprofit leaders gave truly incredible pitches, we awarded two organizations prizes for their work throughout the program. Sylus Green, founder and executive director of The 5:30 Scholars, was selected by the crowd for the Audience Choice Award. Jackie Hoffman, founder and executive director of Peace Runners 773 and Jamyle Cannon, founder of The Bloc Chicago, tied for the Spirit of Fast Pitch award, an award that is chosen by the Fast Pitch cohort to the person who has been supportive, encouraging, and collaborative throughout the program. Congratulations to these leaders!
In addition to these awards, we were able to raise $55,000 in donations during the event, on top of the $40,000 in grants given by SVP Chicago and $75,000 of in-kind services contributed by our pro bono sponsors, for a total of $170,000 for nonprofits making a difference.
