Sam Yagan

Sam Yagan is CEO of Shoprunner. He also co-founded and served as CEO of OkCupid,  which has been featured in the New York Times, Rachael Ray, Wired, and other influential media outlets. OkCupid was acquired by Match.com, a subsidiary of IAC. At Match.com, Sam also oversees advertising sales through the Match Media Group and an internal research and development group.

Sam’s prior entrepreneurial ventures in the consumer internet sector include eDonkey, Inc. (founded in 2002), once the largest P2P file-sharing application in the world and SparkNotes (founded in 1999), the dominant brand of study guides. After selling SparkNotes to Barnes & Noble, he served as vice-president and publisher and oversaw the publication of over 200 titles. He is also co-founder and chief executive officer of Excelerate Labs, a leading start-up accelerator, and a board member of several start-up companies. 

Sam was named to Crain’s “40 Under 40” in Chicago, Billboard Magazine’s list of “Top 30 Executives Under 30” in the entertainment industry, Crain’s “Tech 25,” and Silicon Alley Insider’s SAI 100. Sam has a bachelor’s degree with honors in applied mathematics from Harvard College and a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he earned distinction as a Siebel Scholar, an Arjay Miller Scholar and the Henry Ford Scholar, an award granted to each class’s valedictorian.
