Bob Altman

An accomplished healthcare industry executive, Robert Altman’s career reflects success in leading teams that consistently achieve aggressive corporate goals in both mature and emerging biotech and pharmaceutical businesses. His management experience spans commercialization, product and clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory affairs and quality assurance, compliance, manufacturing, life-cycle management and creation of highly successful strategic alliances. 

Most recently, Bob has been appointed as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the Booth School of Business at University of Chicago where he created and teaches a new class titled “Entrepreneurship for Science and Medicine”. He has also been appointed as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Booth School of Business. 

Before his professorship, Bob served as president of Pinnacle Biologics, Inc., a subsidiary of Concordia Healthcare (TSX: CXR; NASDAQ: CXRX). Pinnacle is a fully integrated specialty pharmaceutical company. He had joined the company in 2012 as Chief Commercial Officer. 

Bob previously founded and built a fully integrated specialty pharmaceutical company, Marathon Pharmaceuticals, and led the company as founding CEO and president from 2007 to 2012. From 2004 to 2007, Bob served in senior leadership roles at Astellas Pharma. 

Bob’s earlier career included numerous leadership positions over 17 years at Abbott Laboratories. He was vice president general manager of the Cardiovascular Drug Franchise from 1998 to 2004. Other key roles at Abbott included Vice President Marketing and Vice President for the company’s Managed Health Care business. 

Bob currently serves on the board of directors for: Toltec Pharmaceuticals and Preora Diagnostics. He earned an MBA in finance and marketing from the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, having earlier received both Ph.D. physical chemistry and MA chemistry degrees at Harvard University, and a BS chemistry at the University of California, Riverside.
